Win a Webcam
On the last entry I left a video message wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. I made the video with my webcam. The webcam is how I stayed connected to the office in California while living in Tennessee. We have given several webcams away to our customers so we can communicate on a more personal level.
We are having another contest to give away more webcams! All you have to do is enter your name into the drawing by calling, e-mailing, faxing or texting your name to Chad, Amber or me (Shane). You can't win if you don't enter!
We have started pinching the plants for Valentines and the inventory will start to dwindle. Valentine's falls on a Saturday this year which typically is one of the worst days for Valentine's Day to be held on because women like to receive their flowers at work for the world to see that someone is thinking about them. This year Valentine's is followed by President's Day on Monday so many business will be closed that day to. The best day for deliveries this Valentine's Day will be on the superstitious day of Friday the 13th. "Isn't it Ironic"...

It's Hot in California
Good Morning! While Southern California continues to burn, we watch from afar and send our thoughts and prayers to the courageous men and women who are fighting the blazes and to all the families who have lost their homes in this tragedy.
Here in Nipomo it has been unseasonably hot. J Schwanke and Kelly Blank were at the farm Thursday thru Saturday shooting some new photos for upcoming ads. We were also working on a new program that will give our customers more than just great roses. It is too early to divulge any of the details but let's say that we are looking at giving more "support" to our customers to help sell our flowers. More to come as the details become available...
This week is Thanksgiving shipping and we are not sure what to expect. Will there be a run on fall colors or will it be light holiday this year? Not sure at the moment but I think people will want a centerpiece of flowers on their tables. It may be a late holiday but I think Thursday and Friday will be wild!

We Grow Stephanotis!
Did you know we grow Stephanotis? That's right, besides roses and spray roses the only other item we grow is Stephanotis. We having been growing it for a little over a year. It is a natural fit to our family because of all the wedding flowers and orders we fill week in and week out. We cut the Stephanotis fresh to order and in clusters as you see in the picture. We also add some extra unopened blooms for the design aspect. We pack the steph in the top of boxes or we can top load in the top of a tall procona. We build a small shelf at the top of the procona that allows the Stephanotis to ride in the procona without touching the blooms of the roses or spray roses below. we can pack up to 6 boxes per procona.
Today, our Stephanotis was selling like never before! We sold over 1100 stems on Monday. We are theorizing one of the main suppliers of Stephanotis is off crop which has open the door for us to get our big and beautiful Stephanotis into some new potential customer's door. So the next time you order our roses or spray roses, be sure to get a box of Stephanotis just to see what everyone's talking about!

The Eufloria Way
Last week we showed some pictures of the grading and bunching process. This week we will show a couple of more steps of the process. Once the graded bunch of roses is placed on the conveyor belt and sent down to the wrapping machine. Once the wrapper has been placed on the bunch the rose bunch, it is ready for a the label that has the variety name and size on it. Once the label is created for that bunch, it is then listed in the inventory and available for sale. The roses are then put into proconas of water, containing Chrysal # 2 holding solution, and taken into the packing and shipping cooler where the roses will remain until they are sold. Once they are sold they are pulled, packed in either a procona or a box, and then strapped to ship to the buyer's location.
When you buy from Eufloria, you are dealing with farm and not a broker. We are in control of every facet of the growing and sales of our roses, spray roses and stephanotis. This guarantees the best flowers possible for your floral needs. Whether you need flowers for your everyday designs or for the special event or wedding for that special customer, you can count on Eufloria Flowers to deliver the best roses possible. It is the last week in October and it seems business has slowed down across the entire country. There is still demand for wedding varieties like Black Baccara, Sahara, Polar Star and other whites and creams. We have plenty of fall colors available for sell. We can create a nice fall mix of roses if anyone is interested.
Now that Eufloria is part of the "blogging community", it will give us an opportunity to pull the
curtain back and show some of the "behind the scenes" looks at our operation. The first picture shows our wonderful ladies grading and bunching some freshly harvested roses. These roses have been cooling down in the harvest cooler for at least 4 hours before they are brought out for grading. They grade the roses according to stem size from 32" (80cm) to 18" (47cm). Once they have graded 25 stems of the same size the roses are put on a conveyor belt to be wrapped, as you can see to the right.

Tuesday Morning
It is Tuesday morning and it is a cool morning. Production is very slow. I just logged in the stems cut yesterday which was just over 14,oo0 stems. Only 7 days ago we were curring over 22,000 stems a day, so the production is cut by a third. Fall colors are still hot and hard to come by. Call me if you are looking for anything special. Thanks for stopping by...

Monday Morning Update
I am here at the farm with Chad. Chad is giving me a crash course on the daily operations of running the sales office. I will be flying solo here in the sales office next week while Chad is in Amsterdam. We are out of certain varieties this morning. Alhambra, Naranga, Black Baccara,
Novia, Milva, Circus. These varieties are hotter than a firecracker in the middle of July. If you want/need any of these varieties, please call or send your order in early to get on the list. We are cutting these varieties every day but we have more orders than production at this time. If we have your order we can allocate stems to fill your request...

Monday Morning
It is Monday and boy do we have some flowers to sell. Production is running on all cylinders which means plenty of roses and sprays are being harvested. If you have any rose needs or looking for some spray roses, be sure to call us first. Chad is still interviewing for a replacement for Shannon but so far no one has made the cut or have the skills and criteria that Chad is looking for. We have been getting lots of calls for Terra Cotta roses, brown roses, chocolate roses, and other earth tone rose colors. Unfortunately, we currently do not have any brown or chocolate roses in production. We just pulled Choco out of production because she was not performing up to our standards. We have been testing Coffee Break but have not decided if we will plant this variety. What varieties would you like to see us grow? Write us a comment and tell us what you think...

Weekly Update
It has been hot here at the farm in Nipomo the last few days which means we have been cutting and harvesting some big numbers on roses. White spray roses are the hottest item right now. We are sold out thru Monday but could have sold 1000 more bunches if we had them. Fall weddings and homecoming dances seem to be sucking up spray roses everywhere. I will be travelling to the farm on October 5th and be there until October 23rd while Chad is in Amsterdam attending the Horti Fair show and picking out our newest varieties for 2009.

2008 SAF Convention
I am here in Palm Beach at The Breakers for the 2008 SAF Convention. Tonight is the last night of the convention which is concluded with the President's Banquet. We had great results at the Outstanding Varieties Competition this year. Eufloria Roses entered 25 varieties into the competition and we received 17 ribbons; 3 blue ribbons, 13 red ribbons and 1 Best in Class purple ribbon. Our spray rose, Flash Night won the Best in Class for spray roses. The other 2 blue ribbon winners were Quincy, a spray rose, and Red Naomi!, a standard rose. This gives us over 200 ribbons we have won for our roses since 1999!
